Hand-selected by us in Avignon, this small watercolor piece captures the hill village of Vaugines in a handful of confident strokes — stacked houses, a bell tower, a line of cypress, and the ridge of the Luberon behind it. Signed ATI and dated 2013, set in a worn wooden frame that's lived a longer life than the drawing inside it.
Small enough for a bookshelf, a mantel, or a narrow hallway, and happy in a group with other framed work. The frame carries its age openly — rubbed gilt, softened corners, surface wear — and that contrast with a fresh hand is exactly the point.
