Antique French Terracotta Confit Pot

$138.00

Sourced in Lyon, France by Atelier Terrell · Vintage · Handmade in France

Dimensions: 10"W x 10"D x 11"H

A vessel shaped by generations of simple French living.

Hand-selected in Lyon, this impressive 19th-century French terracotta confit pot carries the warmth and character of an object made to be used. Originally used for preserving olives and other pantry staples, its generous form and earthy brown surface have softened beautifully with age.

The weathered finish is where much of its charm lies. Natural salt and calcium deposits have formed across the terracotta over time, creating subtle variations in texture and tone that speak to the pot's history and the life it once held.

We love this piece for its sculptural presence. Leave it empty on a kitchen counter or open shelf, fill it with branches or dried stems, or let it anchor a collection of objects on a console or sideboard. Its simple form brings warmth and texture without feeling overly decorative.

We chose this confit pot because it embodies something we often look for when sourcing in France: objects made for everyday life that become more beautiful with time. Its history is visible in every variation of its surface.

These qualities are part of its character and history rather than considered defects.
